Lyle
and I are transplanted Iowans. Our goal is to have this acreage look and
produce like our acreage did in Iowa. We’ve had to get used to several
things in this area, less rain and the spring winds. No more
Kentucky blue grass and fescue in our pastures not enough rain for those
grasses. Now we have native prairie grasses! I found that trees and
pasture were more important to me than a new house with no trees or
grass and deed restrictions. We didn’t want to be restricted to an
amount of horses or restricted to the kind of animals we could have! So
we looked for an older acreage that would have the trees, pasture and
the outbuildings (chicken house and workshop) on it that we wanted.
Our acreage also came with a Popping Johnny!
We’ve put up a new barn. We
still have to build fence and paint fence, chicken house and workshop.
While all of this painting and
cleaning will be going on we will still be foaling our mares! We
had three beautiful foals this spring. Patezia and Contessa were bred to
Psyche’s Victory. Lily was bred to IM Excyting.
